New Zealand’s quarterly CPI and labour market statistics from Stats NZ are the key releases before each decision. Our economic calendar reads their dates from Stats NZ every day. See them all on the economic calendar, or this week’s schedule on the forex week ahead.
Rate decisions are among the biggest scheduled events for the NZD. The pairs that usually react most are NZD/USD, AUD/NZD and NZD/JPY. Spreads often widen in the minutes around the announcement and price can move fast in both directions, so many traders check the time in their own zone in advance and decide whether to hold positions through it.
To see the decision on your chart, switch on economic events in TradingView’s chart settings (our TradingView economic calendar guide shows how). To compare how the NZD is moving against the other majors, use the currency strength meter.
