Filtering the calendar

Reading an event

Each release shows three numbers: Actual (the new figure), Forecast (what was expected) and Prior (the previous reading). Markets usually react to the difference between Actual and Forecast, not to the number itself. Click an event to launch a chart, see an overview of the indicator’s history, or add it to your calendar.

Showing economic events on your chart

  1. Click the gear (Settings) button on the chart.
  2. Open the Events tab.
  3. Turn on economic events so they appear along the chart’s timeline. For stocks, the same tab also controls dividends, splits and earnings markers.
