TradingView Alert Message & Webhook JSON Builder

Tick the values you want and get a ready-to-paste TradingView alert message, as webhook JSON or plain text. It checks the JSON, flags misspelled placeholders, and shows what the message will look like when it fires.

You can edit or paste a message in the box and it will be checked. Changing an option on the right rebuilds it.

How to use your alert message in TradingView

    1. Build the message above and click Copy.
    2. Create an alert in TradingView: press Alt + A (⌥ + A on Mac) or click the alert button, then set the condition.
    3. Paste into the alert’s Message box. TradingView replaces each {{placeholder}} with the live value when the alert fires.
    4. For a webhook, turn on the Webhook URL notification and paste your endpoint address. Then create the alert.
Tip: make a test alert first, for example a price crossing a level that will trigger soon, and check what arrives before relying on it.

    TradingView alert placeholders

These are the placeholders (also called variables) TradingView documents for alert messages. Write them exactly as shown, including the double curly brackets.

    PlaceholderWhat it becomes

Source: TradingView help center, October 2026. Price alerts use 1-minute bars for {{close}}, {{time}} and similar; indicator and drawing alerts use the chart’s timeframe. If an alert uses several indicators, {{plot}} values come from the first one.

    How TradingView webhooks work

A webhook sends your alert message to a web address as an HTTP POST request, so another app (a bot, a spreadsheet, a chat channel) can act on it. TradingView documents these rules:

Webhook notifications aren’t available on every plan. See the TradingView plans comparison and check TradingView’s pricing page for your plan.

    Alerts from a strategy

Strategy alerts can use the {{strategy.*}} placeholders, which describe the order that just filled: buy or sell, size, price and the new position. Choose Strategy above to add them. They return nothing useful on an ordinary indicator or price alert.

Pine Script authors can also set the text per order with the alert_message parameter of strategy.entry(), strategy.exit() or strategy.order(), then put {{strategy.order.alert_message}} in the alert message. For indicators, placeholders written in an alertcondition() message are pre-filled when you create the alert.

    Common alert message mistakes

Hotkeys for alerts and drawing are on our shortcuts cheat sheet.

    FAQ

What placeholders can I use in TradingView alerts?
    TradingView documents {{ticker}}, {{exchange}}, {{close}}, {{open}}, {{high}}, {{low}}, {{volume}}, {{time}}, {{timenow}}, {{interval}}, {{syminfo.currency}}, {{syminfo.basecurrency}}, {{plot_0}} to {{plot_19}}, {{plot("Name")}}, and for strategies a set of {{strategy.*}} placeholders such as {{strategy.order.action}}.
How do I send a TradingView alert as JSON?
Write the alert message as valid JSON, for example {"ticker": "{{ticker}}", "price": "{{close}}"}. If the message is valid JSON, TradingView sends the webhook with an application/json header; otherwise it is sent as text/plain.
Why is my TradingView webhook sent as text/plain?
Because the message isn't valid JSON. A missing quote, comma or bracket is enough. Paste it into the ChartWatch Alert Message Builder to find the problem.
What time zone is {{time}} in TradingView alerts?
UTC. {{time}} is the open time of the bar that triggered the alert, and {{timenow}} is the time the alert fired, both in a format like 2019-08-27T09:56:00Z.
    Why does {{interval}} return 1?
Simple price alerts and Range chart alerts always return 1. {{interval}} works as expected on indicator and drawing alerts.
Do TradingView webhooks need two-factor authentication?
Yes. TradingView only allows webhook alerts when two-factor authentication is turned on for your account.
Which ports do TradingView webhooks support?
Only ports 80 and 443. TradingView rejects webhook URLs on other ports.
