Every week the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) publishes the Commitments of Traders report: how traders are positioned in each US futures market, split by type of trader. Positions are counted at the close on Tuesday and the report is normally released on Friday afternoon US time. This page reads the official data automatically and shows the latest week alongside three years of history.
Currency futures are quoted against the US dollar, so a net long in Euro FX means speculators are positioned for the euro to rise against the dollar, roughly the same direction as long EUR/USD. For the Japanese yen, Swiss franc and Canadian dollar, the futures move opposite to how USD/JPY, USD/CHF and USD/CAD are quoted, so a net long in yen futures lines up with a falling USD/JPY.
The report is a snapshot from Tuesday, published three days later, and covers only US futures, not spot forex. Positioning can stay extreme for long periods, so it describes how the market is positioned rather than predicting the next move. ChartWatch shows the data as published and doesn’t give trading advice.
Use the button above to download every market on this page as a TradingView watchlist file, then import it from the watchlist menu (our watchlist guide shows how). Continuous futures symbols ending in 1! always point to the front contract; see futures month codes for specific months.
