Outside regular hours, stocks can still trade in the pre-market (from 4:00 am ET) and after-hours (until 8:00 pm ET) sessions. Nasdaq notes that brokers can offer different extended-hours times, and that these sessions tend to have lower liquidity and higher volatility. On early-close days, NYSE says its late sessions on NYSE Arca and its other electronic markets end at 5:00 pm ET.
On TradingView, extended-hours data shows on intraday charts when you turn on extended trading hours for the symbol. If you paper trade, see our paper trading guide for how to let limit orders fill outside regular hours.
E-mini S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and Dow futures on CME Globex trade almost 24 hours: from Sunday 5:00 pm to Friday 4:00 pm Central Time, with a daily one-hour break from 4:00 to 5:00 pm CT. That’s why futures such as ES1! move overnight while the stock market is closed. Futures holiday hours are set by CME and can differ from the stock market’s.

US stock markets are closed on weekends and on around ten exchange holidays a year, and close early at 1:00 pm ET on a few days such as the day after Thanksgiving. The full list for 2026, 2027 and 2028 is on our stock market holidays page. Days like Columbus Day and Veterans Day are not stock market holidays, so the market is open.
