The Nifty 50 is India’s benchmark stock index. Here are the Nifty symbols on TradingView: the index NSE:NIFTY, the futures NSE:NIFTY1! and Bank Nifty, with what each shows and when they trade.
The Nifty 50 tracks 50 of the largest companies listed on the National Stock Exchange of India and is the most watched measure of the Indian market, alongside BSE’s Sensex. Bank Nifty (Nifty Bank) tracks India’s largest banks and is one of the most actively traded index derivatives in the world.
The index is calculated from the prices of its 50 stocks. The futures are a contract for a future date, so their price includes the cost of carry until expiry and usually sits a little above the index (a “premium”), shrinking towards zero at expiry.
NIFTY1! is TradingView’s continuous contract: it always shows the current front-month future and rolls to the next at expiry, so the chart can jump at the switch. NIFTY2! is the next month.
NSE trades Monday to Friday: pre-open 9:00–9:15 am and normal market 9:15 am–3:30 pm India time (IST, UTC+5:30, no daylight saving). See the live Indian stock market timings clock.
For analysing the market, NSE:NIFTY. If you trade index futures, NSE:NIFTY1!. For banking stocks, NSE:BANKNIFTY.
