TradingView heatmaps
A heatmap shows a whole market at a glance: each tile is a stock, ETF or coin, its size shows how big it is, and its colour shows how it’s moving. TradingView has three heatmaps that work the same way:
| Heatmap | Grouped by | Data sets |
| Stock heatmap | Sector | An index (such as the S&P 500) or a whole country’s market |
| ETF heatmap | Asset class | ETFs by country |
| Crypto coins heatmap | No grouping | All coins, excluding Bitcoin, excluding stablecoins, or DeFi |
How to open a heatmap
Open Products in the top menu, choose Screeners, then Heatmaps, and pick Stocks, ETFs or Crypto.
What size and colour mean
- Size by: the bigger the value, the bigger the tile. Stocks can be sized by market cap, volume, turnover or equal size (“Mono size”); ETFs by assets under management, volume or turnover; crypto by market cap, fully diluted market cap or volume.
- Colour by: by default the daily change in % (24-hour change for crypto): green rising, red falling, grey roughly flat. You can switch to performance over 1 week, 1, 3 or 6 months, year to date or 1 year, or to metrics such as relative volume, volatility, gap or pre-/post-market change for stocks.
- Legend: colour ranges are set automatically from the current data. Click a band in the legend to hide tiles in that range.
Useful settings
- Zoom into a sector: click a group, such as Technology, to see only its stocks.
- View modes: classic or equal-size tiles, with or without grouping.
- Display: show logos, the ticker or the name, and the price, volume or performance on each tile. Colour schemes include Classic, Color Blind and Monochrome.
- Share: the camera icon downloads an image, copies a link or shares it.
TradingView says heatmaps update automatically every minute. Without a real-time data subscription, stock quotes can be delayed by about 15 minutes.
