The Multi Commodity Exchange of India trades Monday to Friday in one continuous session from 9:00 am IST, with no mid-day break. Times are in India Standard Time (UTC+5:30), which has no daylight saving.
Non-agri contracts track international prices set mainly in US markets, so MCX extends the close to 11:55 pm when the US moves its clocks back in November, and returns to 11:30 pm when US daylight saving starts in March. For 2026, the 11:30 pm close applied from March 9, and the 11:55 pm close starts on Monday, November 2, 2026. MCX confirms each change by circular.
Many brokers square off intraday positions a few minutes before the close, so check your broker’s cut-off time.
MCX gold and crude oil follow COMEX gold and NYMEX crude, which trade almost around the clock. See gold market hours and the oil symbols page. Indian equity hours are on Indian stock market timings, and NSE closures on NSE holidays 2026.
MCX publishes its own holiday list each year. On some exchange holidays the morning session is closed but the evening session opens; check MCX’s holiday circular for a specific date.
