EUR/USD is the most traded currency pair. On TradingView you’ll find it from several providers plus the Euro FX futures. Here’s what FX:EURUSD, OANDA:EURUSD and 6E1! are and which to pick.
EUR/USD shows how many US dollars one euro buys. At 1.1000, one euro costs $1.10. One pip is 0.0001, worth $10 on a standard lot of 100,000 euros. Because the euro is over half of the US Dollar Index, EUR/USD and DXY usually move in opposite directions.
FX:EURUSD, OANDA:EURUSD and your broker’s feed can differ by a fraction of a pip, especially around news and the daily rollover.A ticker ending in 1! is TradingView’s continuous contract: it always shows the front futures month and switches when it rolls over. 2! is the next month after that. Each contract has a different price, so the chart can jump at the roll.
Spot forex trades from 5:00 pm New York time on Sunday to 5:00 pm on Friday. CME currency futures trade almost the same hours with a one-hour daily break from 4:00 to 5:00 pm Central Time. See the live forex market hours clock for the sessions in your time zone.
If you trade spot forex, use your own broker’s EURUSD feed if TradingView has it; otherwise FX:EURUSD or OANDA:EURUSD are close. If you trade futures or want exchange volume, use 6E1!.
Work out pip value and position size with the pip calculator and position size calculator, or tick values with the futures calculator.
