Japan’s national CPI and the earlier Tokyo CPI, both from the Statistics Bureau of Japan, are the inflation releases to watch before each meeting. See them all on the economic calendar, or this week’s schedule on the forex week ahead.
Rate decisions are among the biggest scheduled events for the JPY. The pairs that usually react most are USD/JPY, EUR/JPY and GBP/JPY. Spreads often widen in the minutes around the announcement and price can move fast in both directions, so many traders check the time in their own zone in advance and decide whether to hold positions through it.
To see the decision on your chart, switch on economic events in TradingView’s chart settings (our TradingView economic calendar guide shows how). To compare how the JPY is moving against the other majors, use the currency strength meter.
